With Lordi bringing home the big dolmade from Athens this week Helsinkians will be treated to a special welcome back concert in the Market Square at 6pm on Friday. I also believe there maybe a concert on Saturday. Nevertheless I am hoping they incorporate the career alcholics of Helsinki and recreate a Thriller live performance. HKI RockCity!

Stencils, posters, stickers and graffiti make one of the most colourful cities in the world even more colourful. Last Night I Dreamt that somebody loved me and they did. This person also managed to get me a ticket to see my longtime idol Morrissey at the cable Factory in Helsinki last night. Morrissey has stood me up before back in 1991 when he claimed to be still ill, however, managaed to find time to entertain some Japanese fans. I sobbed with my friends who had spent countless dollars derived from retail and fastfood hell jobs to purchase gladioli. One friend even shaving MOZ into the back of her head. So Mel, Wiz, Nellie and Zoe kudos to you.

Tomorrow night I will see Depeche Mode for the third time in my life. What a joy. I love this band and they have underpinned so much of my time on this planet. I first saw them on their Violator tour in 1990 in Sydney and then again in 2001 in London on their Exciter tour and now in Helsinki for Playing the Angel.

I was once in Vienna and went to a sausage vender near to the main Park in the city and there was a picture of the band eating Austrian sausage at the very place I was standing. Love to you Dave, Andy and Martin.

Ok so in the last few weeks I have spent more than 3 days on planes and been a captive audience for many, many films some good some bad. Lets just say after watching Reece Witherspoon in Just Like Heaven she should never be able to win an academy award ever. After a good performance in Walk the Like, Laura Jean made me want to spew teriyaki salmon all over the cabin crew.

Aside from shite some good stuff was also fortunate enough to steal my gaze. Capote is brilliant. Keener is amazing and Hoffman is better than he normally is which will make this the most deserving male oscar win in a longtime.

Walk the Line was good, but a bit over-rated. Shop girl was a nice early morning viewing as I flew from Cairns to Sydney, thanks Qantas frequent flyer program for a multistop bitch of a flight, over the Great Barrier Reef.

The rest is a blur and I am not sure what was film, what was reality or what was dream. Heathrow transit check was a sitcom. Baggage scanners repeatedly saying Saki Saki to Japanese tourists, whilst special needs children wait to get through to their next flight. Giddy London!! All the while in a queue that had no real purpose except to aggravate and get us up close and personal with people who have been in the same clothes for 11 hours.

Good thing I am back in Helsinki and -10 degree joy.

P.S. That Lost show really fucked up my flight experience, everytime we hit turburlance that scene where the guy shoots to the ceiling of the plane ran through my head. Bad TV people.

As my copy of Best in Show is currently out on loan it was a welcoming surprise to see it scheduled on MTV3 Sunday 12th Feb at 20.05, for those of us in Finland. Possibly one of the funniest films ever made so run to the video store and rent it. Don't look at the fat ass losers or freaks, look at me!

Whilst returning my dvd today I once again stepped back in time. Breaking through the sounds of Fiona Apple on the ipod, the radio at my DVD store seemed to be hooked into some Swedish pop station. Todays special was by Dr Alban, Sing Hallelujah! Most of us have put the early 90\s dancepop period firmly in reserve for drunken weddings but the Swedish seem to revel in past chart glories.

Dr Alban, who actually is a Dr of dentisty, seems to still be going strong in Abbaland. As well as providing vocals on a Sash dance song he has also taken time to develop his own special underpants.

Ok, I think I am already over the Christmas period The thought of guiding 30 kids through Chritmas craft activities, writing cards and dealing with pushy shoppers already makes me want to ship of somewhere warm. If I have to act excited about explaining that "yes, we do have Christmas in the summer" one more time I am going to blow.

I think my delayed trip to Sydney is the cause of this cynical behaviour. So I have decided to fight fire with fire. So send any cynical, dark, sarcastic recommendations my way. Just saw the film " Un long dimanche de fiançailles " by Jean-Pierre Jeunet . This really is a great film. It goes without saying all of his films are visual treats and so well made. I cant remember what rubbish won academy awards last year but this film me like.

I was reading some comments on www.imdb.com and noticed that Jeunet will be directing the film version of Yann Martels Booker prize winning novel "The Life of Pi". This I feel is a perfect match.

Aged born again rocker Ronn Moss made a Television appearance on Finnish TV2 last night. Poor Ronn.

I felt so sorry for him having to deal with two bumbling fools of interviewers. Firstly Ronn was made to sit in a plastic hugging chair with a bunch of staring Finns. He was then questioned about his position on the Iraq war. Nice way to ease him into the interview and proceeded to question him on his personal realtionships. Ridge sent the hosts blushing when he turned the question around. They then went into possibly the most unfunny skit involving Ronn in a made up soap opera. The sudds did not bubble and everyone looked a bit stupid.

So a possibly great interview turned sour. Jobs should be lost. Ronn if you are reading this we should meet, a signed picture of you would be the perfect Xmas gift for my Aunt Daphne. Meet under Stockmann Clock tomorrow at 3.00pm. Oh and bring your guitar.

Kylie has been busy recovering and rioting on the streets of Paris because of her limited performance options and decided she needed to release a DVD of the Showgirl tour. This coincides with a media attack of Channel 10 specials and digital singles.

"Somewhere over the Rainbow", the worst song of the concert will attempt to reach your ears during the Christmas period. I was at the Paris concert and this song was a stinker along with the "Especially for You singalong". Let us just say this did not go down well with the Frenchies. So two warts on an otherwise fantastic show. By the way Danniiiiiiiiiiiiiii was at the Paris gig which caused a bit of attention. Unfortunately I did not get to see lil sis and what strange body augmentation she had done for the evening.

Anyway the DVD will provide me with yet another opportunity to torment guests and celebrate with wine.

Victor Willis, who was the "cop" in the Village People, is on the run from the cops in California. He was arrested after police found crack cocaine, a loaded gun and "drug paraphernalia" in his Corvette. Willis posted $100,000 bail, but disappeared and has not been found since.
